5 Top UK Travel Blogs

Reading travel blogs is definitely one of my favourite pastimes. I just love being transported to another part of the world for those few minutes, discovering new destinations and hearing others amazing travel experiences.

Each month I will be selecting my 5 favourite UK Travel blogs of the moment, the ones that really stuck out for me in terms of great photography, awesome tips and advice and blog layout and usability…so here goes!

 1. Hand Luggage Only

Hand Luggage Only - Travel, Food & Home Blog

What’s The Story?

I absolutely love the story behind this blog. It was born in 2014 when two Cambridge University friends were chatting in their college room about sharing their travel stories with other travellers across the globe. Lloyd and Yaya are two young and travellers with an excitable flair that’s truly infectious as you scour through their pages.

What will I find?

A very well put together blog with a modern aesthetic of black and white. You will find an endless list of destination guides, travel tips, beautiful photography (and photography tips) along with food reviews! We really couldn’t ask for much more from the boys!

Mary Kalymnou - Mary Hop Blog

What’s The Story?

Mary really does transport you to a life of luxury for the duration of your visit to her very glamorous looking website adorned with gold accents and fashionable frocks!

After developing the bug for travel while working as a VIP flight attendant, Mary launched Mary Hop in 2013 so she could share her passions, tips and secrets with others. Mary constantly seeks comfort and luxury wherever she travels, which quickly becomes apparent while browsing her blog’s beautifully curated pages.

4. Passport Stamps

What’s The Story?

Set up by Helen Wright, Passport Stamps is now an established Travel Blog with its own team of writers and set of awards! Holiday loving Helen has worked as a freelance lifestyle journalist for eleven years, writing for impressive titles such as National Geographic Traveller and the Daily Mail (amongst many others!).

In summary, from the lady herself:

“What gets me the most excited when I’m on holiday are the things I can’t wait to rush home and tell my friends and family about! That’s the reason I set up this site”

What will I find?

A really cool, quirky and clutter-free website (complete with adorable illustrations), that’s very easy to navigate with its three key sections; Destinations, Get Inspired and the Blog. ‘Destinations’ covers a good selection of countries worldwide as well as a few beautiful places in England thrown in. The ‘Get Inspired’ section does exactly what it says on the tin, covering mini breaks, party places, staycations, festivals and much more!

When Emily was just 16, she knew she wanted to be a travel writer. Many years later after, a lot of self-doubt and the gift of a travel writing book from a friend, Emily launched her blog. I absolutely love travelling myself but I tend to stay away from travel blogs until I have a holiday booked. Otherwise all I want to do is book more holidays. Each of these sound really different!

Amazing selection! I love travelling myself but I find it very difficult with kids and a low budget… but these bloggers and their stories looked great. What about a selection of “family travel bloggers with a low-budget”? 😀
