After a busy few weeks, a fun night out in London was calling. My friend and I wanted to stay somewhere quite relaxed in a lively location. We stumbled across the Qbic London City Hotel during our search and we knew straight away this was the one for us…
Qbic London City hotel opened its doors in November 2013 as a brand new concept hotel offering 171 cool and vibrant rooms for explorers of the millennial generation. Qbic sets itself apart from other hotels with its green credentials and its modern and practical design.
Hotel Style: Colourful, cool and quirky!
Location: Situated on the cusp of bustling Brick Lane, you couldn’t wish for a better base to discover everything that east London has to offer with Shoreditch and Spitalfields just a short walk away.
Aldgate East tube station is just 2 minutes from the hotel which services the Hammersmith & City and District lines. There are also plenty of bus stops nearby on Whitechapel Road allowing you to explore the rest of London very easily. Tip: Remember to leave the station via the Whitechapel Gallery exit as this is the closest to the hotel.
Check-In: Upon arriving at the hotel we were welcomed by a vibrant reception area that featured unusual decorations such as a baby doll in a pram, a bicycle on the wall and coloured bottle crates for lamp shades!
Arriving a quite a few hours earlier than our check-in time of 3pm, we decided to take advantage of the funky cafe and lounge area. The kind lady at reception took our suitcases off our hands and we were ready to settle down for some brunch.
I definitely developed décor-envy while dining in the café which was full of mid-century style furniture pieces and stunning industrial lamps and pendant lighting.
After demolishing two large delicious waffles with crispy bacon, maple syrup and a pot of tea, we had a very long catch-up while chilling on the sofas. If was so nice to be able to relax after our long journey without feeling pressure to leave. By the time we had finished nattering, our room was ready (an hour earlier than expected), so we collected our bags and headed up!
The Room: There are three types of room to choose from at the Qbic; the Smart room (no window), Cosy Room (standard double) and Fun room (large double) which we opted for.
The first thing we noticed when arriving at our room was the complimentary tea and coffee station right next to our door, complete with delicious Teapigs tea bags (major whoop!).
The bedroom was wonderfully bright and had a very futuristic and colourful design.
Our room featured a ‘Qbi’ which is a large, white, cube-shaped pod that encompassed our entire bed and bathroom. The Qbi was customised with a quirky handmade lamp, television attachment, built-in bedsides complete with plug sockets, mood lights and reading lights.
Other than the Qbi, our room also included a grey sofa for lounging, a hanging rail to keep your outfits pristine and a desk and chair for those visiting on business rather than pleasure.
The bed was incredibly comfy! In fact, the first thing we did when we arrived, was jump straight in for TeaPigs and chocolate it was that irresistible. After resting up it was time to get ready to head out.
The room was perfect for getting ready with a full-length mirror on the back of the door and a large mirror in the bathroom area.
Sleep: We both had a wonderful nights sleep at Qbic and it was very difficult to get up in the morning, especially after the previous night’s antics! The large organic bed and pillows were super comfy.
Service: We received great service during our stay at Qbic. When we reported a slight issue with our aircon, a member of staff came to our room to fix it right away and offered us a complimentary glass of wine to apologise for the inconvenience. The staff were always very polite and happy to help.
Favourite Bits: The tea!! Having an endless supply of Teapigs Everyday Brew tea just outside the door really was a treat, especially with a hangover from hell!
The location is also another great bonus, with so many cool places to discover on your doorstep, you will find it very difficult deciding where to spend your time.
Price: Rooms at Qbic London City start at £82 per night.
Qbic London City Hotel is suitable for anybody wanting a fun stay in the liveliest and trendiest area of London.
